No, it was more than a thought. But here’s what we mean.
Early last year, on a regular workday, when one of our co-founders brought up the idea of Wyld on Shark Tank India, others also endorsed it. Then, they laughed and got back to their work desks. Deep down, however, a dream began taking shape. Lo and behold, the very next morning, we received a call from the team of Shark Tank expressing interest in our business, and that, folks, is where it all started.
First, The Chat Begins
Well, being on Shark Tank is not an overnight journey. Even before diving into the nitty-gritty of the application process, a long chat with the Shark Tank India Season 3 squad was due. They wanted to know the story behind our 'social currency' card startup - what fueled our passion, the brains behind the operation, and the twists and turns that led us to this point. All this Wyld talk was nothing but the gateway to the wild ride ahead.
Let’s Talk Applications
It’s all fun and games when you talk about your work, your passion, your vision, and the whole shebang. But an application doesn’t stop at the basics. Safe to say, it was a very long first application. Then, there was another one that dived deeper into Wyld. But hey, there were many Eureka moments and epiphanies along the way, so we can’t complain.
It was time for a daunting yet the most amusing part of the process - a video application. While our co-founder Rij is still pally with the camera, the rest of the force, Yash and Dishant, took about 10 takes and fits of laughter to get the video application right! You can say that no one got any work done that day at the Wyld HQ.
Time to Influence the Team Before the Sharks
Of course, both the applications and the video audition were well-received by the production team. Now, it was time for an in-person audition. Here, only a solid script wasn’t enough. We had to be armed with screen-friendliness, script delivery, and a slice of the entertainment quotient. The team of Shark Tank India Season 3 grilled us on numbers, values, visions, our backgrounds, potential Shark questions, and more. It was a crash course in preparation!
A couple of months later, we got a call that we had been selected—our ticket to pitch. And we were overcome by a sense of accomplishment, nervousness, excitement, anticipation; you name it. But it was time to get to the grind. Final script? Check. D-Day outfits to match the Wyld style? Check. (PS. That also got us in the Shark Tank teasers.) And, our very own pitch prop, a life-sized Wyld card in all its funky yet suave glory.
Two days before the big pitch, we had a rendezvous with the Shark Tank team. They fine-tuned our script, gave feedback on delivery, and even threw in a set tour for good measure. We practiced, rehearsed, and ensured our attire was as presentable as our pitch.
And, We Go Live!
D-Day finally arrived, and you've probably seen the rest. The whole journey was like a crash course in entrepreneurship, and we wouldn't trade it for anything else. So, there you have it, the behind-the-scenes scoop on how a wild thought turned into a Shark Tank India adventure.
Until next time, stay wild and use Wyld!
